Welcome to the North Pole November update

This is the final update for the SAL. Some of you joined up 2 years ago and several did a wonderful job of finishing their quilt early this year. Then a few more wanted to start this year.
I have put mine on hold indefinitely while I get over my obsession with dolls clothes. All my quilts are patiently waiting.
If you haven't posted about your progress yet make sure you add your link to the linky at the end of this post. This is as far as mine got. I changed the design quite a lot because I wanted it to look like a scene. I have started the last blue row for the top. It has the moon and stars on it and the other two reindeer. It is put away in a box for now.

Thank you to all those who joined in along the way.

Welcome to the North Pole SAL for June

I just managed to get a bit of  fusing done on my table runner but I couldn't focus on posting about it yesterday. I hope all those working on the North Pole blocks have managed to get some done this month.
I have swapped from needle turn to fused applique half way through my table runner. I am just not cut out for the fiddly hand sewing. I have fused on some windows but still have to sew them down.

If you have some progress to show please blog about it or upload a photo to link to and add your link to the linky below.

Welcome to the North Pole SAL update for April

I have been busy sewing my felt stitchery and getting ready to have a stall at the local Easter Fair the last couple of weeks. I have also spent a bit of time on Pinterest. I found this lovely completed quilt by Gail Muller. I can't find anything about her or the quilt show it was in.

We sold a dozen items or so at the market and lots of people admired our work.
We were selling our fused glass pendants and earrings and some polished amber.

You can see my fused glass story here
Well you know what is coming now. I have to say I didn't get any further on my North Pole table runner this month. I hope you all managed to get some done.

I found some lovely clothes collections for paper dolls that I want to make into patterns for my American Girl 18" doll. I also wanted to sew on the machine rather than by hand. I have started the pinafore dress in this picture and will gradually create patterns for each item.

Scrappy Star

So far I have completed two things on my list for January. I have posted and started work on my Something old and Something new link up that I have joined over at Never to Hot to Stitch. I linked up with my quilt diary blog for the Go Wild Garden quilt that I want to get finished this year. Check it out. I feel so organised :) Then again it is only Jan 4.

The second thing I have done is make my first scrappy star for the link up at Majas Paradis . Thankfully she has included a translator widget.

I really want to use up my scraps but even a small scrappy wonky star is hard to make with really small pieces. I have a stack of what must be fabric sample pieces about 1 1/2 inches square that I will use to make 3 1/2 inch squares for centres. They are all uneven. I have tried making them into squares to start with a while back but that is way to hard. This time I just joined them together then trimmed the finished 9 patch.

I love stars so I am pretty sure I will be able to make at least one a month. I may try different shaped stars along the way and I don't think I will worry too much about the block size. Just whatever turns out and then I will fit them together somehow. I want to make a small quilt out of them.

I have started collecting buttons down my right sidebar for things I want to work on this year. There are lots of great things out there already. If you have found a good one please let me know. I think I could fit a couple more in :D
