Sewing Successes

Sewing dolls clothes is so addictive. I have finished all the skivvy samples and now find myself immersed in underwear. Did you know there are hardly any underwear patterns for 18" dolls. Even the finished article is pretty scarce.
I bought a few metres of batiste fabric. It is lovely to work with. Light and breezy but firm enough to sew easily.

These I called shortie pyjamas even though the top is just my first attempt at the petticoat. It came out really short!

Here is my latest skivvy.

 

I am now working on a combination one piece undergarent that has some pin tucks and lace in the front. They take up so much lace for the neck and armholes and pants legs but it looks really nice.

Lots of tropical rain here today so it has been a good day to sit and sew. I get so excited about the doll clothes designs that even though my Go Wild quilt is sitting out on the table I keep passing over it to draw new designs and cut out new samples for the doll. Next week I will work on the quilt.

Some Sewing

I love to just pop in my sewing room and make something that I saw on the internet or make some new clothes. I haven't done much clothes sewing lately. I did buy that nice shell fabric before I left Brisbane and it is well on the way to being a blouse. I just need to get some interfacing from Spotlight tomorrow so I can finish it this week.

The other day I made a star dresden plate block that I saw on another blog. Phew! Just managed to find the link in my browser history. I was sure I saved it somewhere. You can find the tutorial at Snips Snippets blog .

I thought I would play at making a market bag that I might be able to sell at the Easter markets here this year. I wanted to see how fast I could make it. It is a simple bag that I made with homespun but it took me nearly and hour. I don't think they are a good item to make money on. Maybe if I could make 4 in a hour. Maybe I will try making some pot holders.
Anyway, here is the bag. It still needs a rinse and press to get the embroidery pen out properly. It is meant to fold up so I have to still put on the button loop and button.

Here is a progress picture for our new house. I will be starting a new blog about the house soon but I am just really excited to have nearly got to signing the contract.

Nearly forgot. If you get a chance check out this BOM. The blocks look like old fashioned tiles. We have only missed one month and the Feb block is up now. Well worth a look.

Time to go

I have been a bit quiet on the blog front lately. I have only been making a few things for my trip. I finished my jacket.

I also made two shoe bags.

And I made a zippy for my chargers.

I will be trying to make a few posts on my trip. I have worked out that I can only upload one photo with a caption from Flickr to blogger through my iPad. It is not like using the laptop. I will be stopping comments coming to my email. Hopefully I will get some time to visit some blogs but I am not making any promises. I may be having too much fun in Venice or Paris etc.

Round up

I have been doing quite a few things this last week.
I had a play in google+ which is a bit like facebook.
I saw Stitched Around the Block on Pins and Whiskers and added the link to my side bar. It is finished now but Helen at Hugs'n'Kisses has kindly left the design up still. I like the look of it and have printed it out ready to start :)
I made myself a mug bag to take my mug to the quilting group.

I had a play with some tiny squares that I got from the group. There are hundreds of them all a bit bigger than 1 1/2 inches so they need to be trimmed first. I am making another kitchen mat.

I have finalised the planning for the US trip. Now all I have to do is finish my blazer and trousers. I have only cut the trousers out and I have to put the lining in the blazer.

I finished a light knit top to take as well.

I made another book mark and finished another book.

I am making another book mark with a teapot at one end and a mug at the other. Just a bit more to do on that one.
Don't forget to have a look at the links in my side bar. There may just be something you can't live without. The miniature knits are just so cute and the quick table runner looks great. I will have to send the picture of the owl cupcakes to DD2. She likes making cup cakes and I thought the year of the dragon stitchery was something I might have a go at. Maybe put it on a notebook.
Everything that makes it to the side bar gets archived in the Favourite Finds page. I haven't bothered putting in the pictures just the links and a title.
